Being an artist-Monday
October 19, 2009
This morning I woke up ready to roll the day ahead of me.
Trying to sell some plumbing connectors for a friend. It is funny because I was wearing this pendant around my neck and the guy asked me: ‘Where are you from?’,
‘Romania’, I said.
‘And where are you from?’ I asked.
‘Israel’ he said.
Well, I thought, this is the money man. I think he liked me because, he asked about the pendant. Than, I made the connection, it reminded him of home… it is a hamsa pendant.
Here is the definition – I am learning with you, as well:
The hamsa (Arabic: خمسة , khamsa, lit. five, also romanized khamsa and chamsa) is a palm-shaped amulet popular throughout the Middle East and North Africa. The hamsa is often incorporated in jewelry and wall hangings, as a defense against the evil eye. It is believed to originate in ancient practices associated with the Phoenicians of Carthage.
On the other hand, I am approaching 40 in a few months and I have a noble goal; to lose 20 pounds. Don’t ask me how … it is still a mystery for me.
I am in love with Matisse work, his still lives are so vivid in color while almost every composition takes my breath away.
I wish I could have his spontaneity of color and fascinating imagination.
This is it for today. Need to go back to work!
